The programme

This course aims to meet the needs of students who want to develop a career in the increasingly popular area of game and deer management, pest control or other similar aspects of countryside conservation.

The course provides a carefully balanced blend of practical and theoretical work for those students who want to pursue a nationally recognised qualification in this area.

Special Features

The course offers various special features and opportunities including industry experience on a gamekeeping estate, visits to various establishments looking at aspects of game management and conservation, use of the college woodlands and local estates as an outdoor working area for practical gamekeeping, estate skills and conservation management.

Work on estates involved with gamekeeping or deer management, forestry commission, conservation or pest control

There is the opportunity to progress to Foundation Degree and Honours Degree courses in areas such as Game Management, Upland Resource Management or Wildlife Conservation.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grades A-C OR a relevant BTEC First Diploma or equivalent OR “Life experience” will also be taken into account when considering applications from mature students. In addition two satisfactory references are required.
