The programme

This programme has been designed to introduce you to a career working in Child Care. Particular emphasis has been placed on the development of the practical skills, knowledge and confidence that give you the basics to work in Child Care.

Special Features

This is a very practical programme, giving you the basic understanding of child care alongside a range of practical skills. Industry visits may be used to further develop your knowledge and opportunities will be offered to visit the College’s child care facility, ‘Jubilee Nursery’.

Students may be offered the opportunity to gain vital industrial qualifications, such as First Aid

This certificate does NOT give you a qualification to work with children, but is a step towards Further Education and training.

People who take this course could go on to..

Further training to work with children of all ages. Learners with high grades can choose to stay on and study for the CACHE Certificate in Child Care and Education.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, though an interest for the subject is essential. Students must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment at interview.

In addition two satisfactory references are required. As this programme involves working with children, a satisfactory CRB check.
