Apprenticeships in Game and Wildlife Management

The programme

This very practical programme combines the opportunity of working within the game management industry whilst being paid a wage with training that leads towards an NVQ L2 in Game and Wildlife Management.

The programme is delivered mainly on the job but some college attendance will be necessary, usually several block weeks spread out one at a time throughout the length of the programme.

Special Features

For practical work experience, an employer is essential – the college can help with finding employment.

There is the opportunity to be trained in other job-related areas such as All Terrain Vehicle Operation, Emergency First Aid and Vermin Control.

People who take this course could go on to..

You could end up working on a large country estate or game-rearing business looking after pheasant, partridge or grouse, creating and preserving habitats for wildlife and helping to organise and attending shoots.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, though an interest for the subject is essential. Students must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment at interview. You will also be required to satisfactorily complete an initial assessment. In addition two satisfactory references are required.

Duration

The programme can last between 1-3 years depending on which level you choose.
