The programme

This is a very practical programme, a large part of which is spent working with animals to gain the practical skills required. The programme has also been designed to improve students’ numeracy and literacy skills to encourage personal development, in particular with regard to basic problem solving.

Special Features

This is an introductory level course that is designed to allow the student to develop both confidence and skills through working with animals, whilst studying for an NVQ level 1 in Animal Care.

People who take this course could go on to..

Work within the animal management industry in areas such as kennel and catteries, grooming parlours and animal welfare organisations. Some learners have also moved on to further college programmes.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, though an interest for the subject is essential. Students must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment at interview. You will also be required to satisfactorily complete an initial assessment. In addition two satisfactory references are required.and commitment at interview and have acceptable references.
