The programme

This programme has been designed to enable you to gain both the knowledge and the skills that are required for positions of responsibility in the animal management industry.

These skills and knowledge are delivered through a combination of academic study, practical classes, visits and work experience.

Assessment is based on assignments, seminars, practicals, presentations and examinations.

This programme gives students the opportunity to develop their academic and practical skills to a higher level. Students are encouraged to develop areas of specialist interest through optional modules in the second year.

The College has developed a reputation as a centre of excellence in the study of animal behaviour, counselling, herpetology and animal science.

People who take this course could go on to..

the final year of either the BSc (Hons)Applied Animal Behaviour and Training or the BSc (Hons)Applied Animal Science, after completion of a short bridging programme.

With the increased number of animal welfare organisations there is a demand for qualified staff to train and care for a wide variety of animals. Veterinary practices are seeking qualified personnel and many opportunities exist in education, journalism, management, marketing and the field of animal technology.

Entry Requirements

80 points at Advanced level (40 at A2) or equivalent

OR

National Diploma at PPP

OR

2 National Awards at pass

OR

NVQ Level 3 in a related subject with a satisfactory reference

OR

“Life experience” will also be taken into account when considering applications from mature students.

An admissions assignment may also be used in certain circumstances
