The programme

You will build on the skills developed during the FdSc as well as adding additional skills and knowledge that will benefit your portfolio and expertise. Assessment is by written assignments, group and individual presentations via web conferencing, blogs, discussions on the VLE, practical demonstrations, time constrained assignments, project work and an Honours dissertation. There are no formal examinations

What you study

During Year 1 the modules will introduce you to experimental design and statistical analysis, and biological effects on behaviour. Year 2 subjects build on those studied previously and become more applied including counselling and advanced learning theory plus options in advanced instructing, alternative therapies, comparative psychology and advanced animal training.

Special Features

This is a unique top up course available to graduates of the FdSc Canine Behaviour & Training.

People who take this course could go on to..

employment as a dog trainer, behaviour counsellor, assistance dog trainer, detection dog trainer, service dog trainer, Customs and Excise handler, or training dogs for commercial work, rescue and rehabilitation work.

Entry Requirements

Other Foundation Degrees may be acceptable depending upon the students? prior learning and experience but may require attendance at and satisfactory completion of a bridging study week before commencement of study on the BSc.

Duration

The course is part-time and available only by distance learning with a strong emphasis on online delivery and submission of written assessments
