Equine Academy

The Bishop Burton Equine Academy provides continued support and development of proven high calibre riders or those with future potential to succeed to a high level. The Academy is open to both Further and Higher education students enrolled on a course at Bishop Burton College. Academy members will receive a highly supportive and structured training programme whilst studying for an academic qualification.

The academy aims to:

  • Offer high quality relevant FE/HE academic provision for continued education and career development
  • Provide top class sport specific coaching and personnel support for a variety of equestrian disciplines
  • Develop individual preparation, training & competition strategies in order to maximise performance

Each academy member will receive:

  • Training sessions with the Academy Director, Marcus Roberts
  • Coaching with specialist trainers/riders
  • Competition schedule assistance & planning
  • Designated DIY stabling for Academy horses
  • Specialist support from the Bishop Burton Team which includes a therapist, horse and rider fitness coach and nutritionist
  • Therapy sessions available for horses in the Equine Therapy Centre with reduced prices for treatment
  • Option to join the Bishop Burton Riding Club
  • Corporate personalised equine academy kit

Selection onto the Academy

Applications to join the academy are invited from rider/horse combinations who have competed successfully at/or equivalent to:

  • Eventing - CCI/CIC* and above
  • Dressage - who have won points at medium level, para dressage riders who have competed internationally
  • Showjumpers - who have won money at 1.20m and above

To request selection into the academy send a covering letter to Marcus Roberts enclosing the following:

  • Up to date competitive CV
  • DVD/Video of you competing in a recent (within last 6 months) Affiliated Competition
  • Reference from your current trainer/coach
