Built to the highest standards, the £3million Bishop Burton Arena was opened in
October 2008 by HRH Princess Anne and is the College’s largest single building.

Measuring 5060m2, the arena has a working surface of 65 x 35m which benefits from the latest dust-free wax/sand surface which is suitable for all disciplines.

Designed to hold competitions and events as well as lectures and practical demonstrations, the arena also houses five classrooms, seating for 500, commentary boxes and PA system, therapy and demonstration rooms with viewing galleries and VIP hospitality areas. The building also complies with current Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) regulations.

This versatile facility can be used for conventions, conferences and lecture demonstrations as well as top-class competition.

Recent events include the British Horse Society (BHS) and British Riding Clubs (BRC) Welfare Conference and the BRC Annual Equine Forum.

The arena is also ideal for non-equine events and recently hosted a Masstock SMART Farming Exhibition, which saw it filled with the latest farming machinery and technology.

Championship and International Arenas

Measuring 50m x 90m the International Arena is the latest addition to the already impressive equine facilities at the College. The arena was premiered for Show Jumping during the FEI European Pony Championships, which was hosted by the College in July 2010.

The Championship arena, opposite the Bishop Burton Arena measures 72m x 50m and was used for the dressage competitions throughout the Championships.

Both surfaces are complemented by Cherry Burton Arena, a smaller surface which can be used for schooling or warming up.

Two further indoor schools are also available and all surfaces are maintained to the highest standard to ensure perfect riding for students and commercial users.
