Basic Bricklaying.

The Programme

This course is designed to give you a basic understanding or laying bricks and blocks in the trowel trades, including basic setting out. It has been specifically developed for delivery in College using our fully equipped construction workshops.

What You Study

  • Setting out of straight walls, corners and pillars
  • Construction of brick wall and corners
  • Construction of block walls
  • Use of a range of mortar joints
  • Knowledge of checking brickwork (gauge, level, plumb) 

Special Features

This is a very practical course that has been designed to meet the needs for a person wishing to learn the basics of bricklaying for the purposes of constructing garden walls, block work or building pillars, for example.

People who take this Course could go on to

  • An Introduction to Plastering
  • Diploma’s in bricklaying or plastering
