This Foundation Degree is for those who wish to pursue a career in design. Design is fast becoming a multi-disciplinary industry, creatively combining various areas of practice including interior, landscape, 3D, multi-media, exhibition and graphic design. Potential practitioners need to offer flexibility, versatility and the ability to respond to a wide range of creative challenges and opportunities. The course aims to provide the student with the breadth and depth of knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in this challenging and competitive area.

Special Features

The programme provides practical, vocational and academic study in a range of design disciplines through exciting and challenging 'live' design projects, and the opportunity to specialise in major projects in the area(s) of the studentÕs choice. These projects are underpinned by work-related learning which provides the student with an understanding of professional contexts. Students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree Design are guaranteed a place on the BA Honours Design Final Year programme.

Entry Requirements

Successful applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of 120 UCAS points at Advanced Level (60 at A2) or Level 3 Extended Diploma or equivalent plus satisfactory reference. Life experience will also be taken into account when considering applications from mature students. An admissions assessment may be used in certain circumstances.
