Special Features
This programme gives students the opportunity to develop their academic and practical skills to a higher level. Students are encouraged to develop areas of specialist interest through optional modules in the second year.
People who take this course could go on to
Progress onto the final year of either the BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Behaviour and Training, BSc Animal Behaviour and Welfare or the BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science, after completion of a short bridging programme. With the increased number of animal welfare organisations there is a demand for qualified staff to train and care for a wide variety of animals. Veterinary practices are seeking qualified personnel and many opportunities exist in education, journalism, management, marketing and the field of animal technology. Students on this course are required to gain a minimum of 200 hours of work experience.
Entry Requirements
Successful applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of 120 UCAS points at Advanced Level (60 at A2) or Level 3 Extended Diploma or Equivalent plus satisfactory reference. Life experience will also be taken in to account when considering applications from mature students. An admissions assessment may be used in certain circumstances.
