This extended programme has been created to provide an alternative pathway for mature students with life or relevant industrial/commercial experience, and/or those returning to study who wish to prepare for Higher Education learning. During the Introductory Year students will develop a solid foundation of scientific, intellectual, creative and investigative skills and knowledge on which to build during the later stages of the programme and develop a reflective and adaptive approach to study. There will be a mix of formal teaching, discussion and practical experience thus providing a challenging and rewarding learning experience for all students.

Over the three years, this degree will give students the opportunity to develop their academic and practical skills to a higher level. Students are encouraged to develop areas of specialist interest through optional modules in the final year. Options may include:

People who take this course could go on to
The final year of either the BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Behaviour and Training, BSc Animal Behaviour and Welfare or the BSc (Hons) Applied Animal Science after completion of a short bridging programme. Alternatively there is a demand for qualified staff to train and care for a wide variety of animals within veterinary practices and animal welfare organisations.
Entry Requirements
Applicants would normally be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSE A-C grades and be aged 18 or over. However we do encourage applications from mature students who may not have the formal qualifications but do have life or relevant industrial/commercial experience and/or those returning to study who wish to prepare for Higher Education learning.
