The programme is distinctive in that it allows students to develop their scientific knowledge and laboratory/practical skills relating to the animal industry, in particular the livestock production industry. Small group sizes allow extensive hands-on experience with cows, pigs, sheep and horses and the opportunity to study dogs, cats, rodents, rabbits, cavies and exotic species.
People who take this course could go on to
Opportunities exist within the areas of consultancy, lecturing, sales of feed and other associated products, including work within the pharmaceutical industry. Positions are also available to graduates in journalism, marketing and animal centre management.
Entry Requirements
Successful applicants are normally expected to have a minimum of 200 UCAS points at Advanced Level (100 at A2) or Level 3 Extended Diploma or equivalent plus satisfactory reference.Life experience will also be taken in to account when considering applications from mature students. An admissions assessment may be used in certain circumstances.
