City & Guilds 7305* Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector (DLLTS)
The Programme
DTLLS is the teaching qualification for practicing teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector. It is offered at Level 5 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). DTLLS leads to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) Status and is the equivalent to a Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) or PGCE course.

This course is suitable for anyone teaching in the following Lifelong Learning contexts:
- Adult and Community Education
- Commerce, Industry, Public and Voluntary sector
- Emergency, Public and Uniformed sector
- Further Adult Education and Sixth Form Colleges
- Ministry of Defence/Armed Forces
- Offender Learning
- Private Training Organisations
- Work-based Learning
The qualification consists of six mandatory units*:
- Planning and Enabling Learning
- Enabling Learning and Assessment
- Theories and Principles for Planning and Enabling Learning
- Continuing Personal and Professional Development
- Curriculum Development for Inclusive Practice
- Wider Professional Practice
*The course number and unit titles are due to change in 2012. However, the content of the course will remain the same.
Students are required to carry out reading, research and assignment work in their own time. This course is a blended approach; i.e face to face taught sessions, group activities and presentations, backed up with materials which are assessed via the College's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
All assignments must be uploaded to the VLE electronically therefore students must have internet and e-mail access. Students will be observed teaching for at least eight separate hours in their place of work.
Entry requirements
Students must have achieved the PTTLS Award (or its equivalent) prior to commencement and be able to evidence at least 150 hours of teaching practice throughout the one year course.
