The College has developed a national reputation for the quality of its agriculture programmes over the last half century and is the only College in the United Kingdom to be designated as a Centre of Vocational Excellence for Agriculture.

Facilities
Bishop Burton College farms 362 hectares, split 50:50 between arable and grassland with winter wheat and oilseed rape areas having recently increased. The Pig Enterprise includes a high-welfare added value pig unit with a unique farrowing village. The Dairy Enterprise with 150 Holstein cows producing 1.4 million litres of milk per year. The herd calves all year round in order to provide a level production pattern to meet local demand. The herd are milked through a state-of-the-art parlour which was recently installed. The Sheep Enterprise consists of 750 texel mules. Currently the College is developing its beef enterprise with investment in a new unit to house in-calf dairy heifers as well as finishing beef steers which will be Limousin cross cattle from the dairy herd.
